tomorrow, it could feel even hotter. good morning, 4:30. this is nbc 10 news today. i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm chris cato. tell us more about this hotness. we're in the middle of a heat wave but hopefully relief is not too far off in the future. give us the good news, meteorologist bill henley. >> it will be a bit hotter today. a clear view, looking at philadelphia and 75 degrees right now. there are some spots in the 60s but solidly in the 70s for roxborough and northeast philadelphia at the airport in south philadelphia. 76 at 5th and wharton, a warm start, a little bit hotter this afternoon. by 6:00 we'll see low 70s, close to 80 degrees at 9:00 and the upper 80s by lunch time today with lots of sunshine and southwesterly winds. a light wind. that will deliver more humidity today. we'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. right now,ç time for a check o traffic.

opened fire, hitting two men and a women. they're all expected ed ted to. at this point they have no suspects. this is mayasia mcfarland. she suffers from bipolar disorder. if you think you may have seen her, call police. a philadelphia man faces several charges. marc edwards hit a 6-year-old girl, investigators say, along sylvester street in the northeast. the little girl is in stable condition at st. christopher's hospital. she's being treated for broken bones. >> today authorities will perform an autopsy on the body of a bethlehem woman. 53-year-old patricia rasmussen was found yesterday in the tressler's bridge. emergency crews rescued a

man at the bangor quarry. we're told he was injured after hitting a rock. an nbc 10 viewer sent thus picture showing the aftermath of a police chase and car crash in wilmington yesterday. police say a driver sped off when officers tried to pull her over. that's when she hit an suv which caused the suv to hit another car. four people were hurt in all. they're all expected to be okay. police say a man stole a motorcycle, lost control and crashed it into a home in uber darby. yesterday afternoon on south harwood street. police were able to find the man who is now recovering from injuries in the hospital. e-a-g-l-e-s, eagles fans are waking up with a smile on their yesterday. the eagles took the field without some of their key starters but they didn't need those to beat the indianapolis colts.

supplies. they've come up with a solution to make sure they're ready. matt delucia is live in philadelphia's lawndale neighborhood. teachers have been doing it for a while but a lot of them say they have to do it. tell us more. >> yes, tracy, some teachers do very well with getting supplies, others not so much. you figure the cost of supplying a classroom can be upwards of $500 or even more. a lot of the teachers are turning elsewhere to find that money. so jane quigley at cedar grove christian academy is doing something different. she's soliciting donations through the internet after hearing about it from colleagues. she wants ipads for her second grade class but can't afford them on her own. so far she's raised just under $600 of a $1,000 goal. >> i'm kind of an old school teacher and i'm trying to branch out into modern technology and get ipads that the kids can use individually to aid their learning.

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> the temperatures are in the mid-70s. not much of a cooling breeze this mother. a light wind blowing in center city. it will stay light today. it's the direction that makes the difference. it's a southwesterly wind. that's bringing in more humidity. the wind at 6 miles an hour. will go stronger but not going to be a strong, gusty wind this afternoon. not going to be cloudy either. a few, thin clouds overnight. they've pretty much disappeared. on our way to a sunny and hot one. allentown, reading, up to 94 degrees. 87 for the pocono mountains. plenty of sunshine for norristown, mount holly. inland, vineland and dover top out into the low 90s and 94 for philadelphia, williamstown, a high of 93 and 92 degrees for wilmington. and it's going to get steamier on us. the seven-day forecast with the

take a look at this video. this is what firefighters are battling just outside los angeles. it took only a few minutes yesterday for this wildfire to double in size from 100 to 200 acres. the fire is burning on a hillside and on structures below. no reports of anybody hurt or how this particular fire

started. meantime in washington state, the small resort town of sha'alan is surrounded by a wildfire. the national guard was called in to make water drops after thousands were forced to evacuate. the fire has destroyed between 50 and 100 homes and buildings. and a scorching heat wave in egypt has killed at least 93 people. temperatures in southern egypt soared to 114 degrees this past week with no relief in site. workers at an ice factory say demand has been especially high. the head of emergency services says most of the people who died were elderly. he blames the deaths or exhaustion, not drinking enough water. search and rescue crews continue to scour that site in tianjin, china. where massive explosions killed at least 112 last week. 95, including 85 firefighters are still missing. crews are trying to find those people. the firefighters who may be

trapped inside that building near a blast site. meantime, officials are also working to determine which chemicals were being stored at the warehouse where the explosions happened. in pakistan, at least ten people are dead after a suicide bombing after the home of an anti-taliban provincial minister. the minister was among the dead. officials say he was hosting a meeting when the bomb went off. four people remain in critical condition. no one is claiming responsibility but suspicious is falling on the taliban and its ally. family and friends of the eight people killed inside their houston home on august 8th will gather for a funeral later today. a former boyfriend of valerie jackson is charged with killer her, her twhusband dwayne and their six children. this amateur video shows the aftermath of the attack but nbc news cannot independently verify

>> but you're going to keep them together out. >> they have to go. >> trump of course stirred up controversy with his comments about undocumented immigrants from mexico. he promised a crackdown on what he called criminal aliens. away from the campaign, donald trump says he will report for jury duty in new york city today. trump says he'll be there bright and early. his spokesperson said the campaign will good on if trump is seated on a jury. more people are cutting the chord with pay tv. a new report finds pay tv providers had their worst three-month period between april and june. researchers say more consumers are turning to net delivered video options. despite the loss of subscribers, 83% of u.s. homes are still connected to some form of pay tv. nbc 10 is counting down to the pope's historic visit to philadelphia for the world meeting of families. our countdown clock is on 40

it will be a little bit hotter than yesterday. philadelphia and northeast philadelphia 75 degrees, 68 in pottstown and chester county, it's down to 65 for fair meadow farm but 70 right now at the brandy wine airport and 69 degrees in phoenixville. a warmer morning and a hot afternoon. no sign of any wet weather. we could use some. it doesn't look like rainfall until we get towards the end of the week come thursday and friday. today you'll need your sunglasses. sunny skies, find a shady spot if you can. it will be a hot afternoon with temperatures in the low to mid-90s today. a steamier day tomorrow. 92 after a morning low of 71 degrees. there's a chance of isolated showers on wednesday but more widespread wet weather, heavy rain potential for thursday and friday, that's going to keep temperatures lower. 80s for thursday and friday. then we'll be drying out just in time for the weekend. partly sunny and 80s for

saturday and sunday. an aggressive driving crackdown is happening right now on county route 539. officials say staggering numbers led to their multiagency effort to make this highway safer from january 13 to may 2015, nearly 300 crashes, including 11 deadly ones happened along 539. seven minutes before 5:00. hopefully no aggressive driving. hopefully it will be a nice, smooth ride. >> nbc 10's first alert traffic reporter katy zachry is here with a look at that smooth drive. >> it is a smooth drive for most people. this camera is going in and out. when it does come back in just a second. this is the vine street expressway right at 8th street. very little volume on the vine. your drive times reflect that. it will take you three minutes, two minutes to go the opposite way. if you continue west on 76 you will find construction around the belmont avenue exit.
